Position Overview

As a DevOps Intern, you will gain hands-on experience with modern DevOps practices while contributing to mission-critical cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and security integration. This role is ideal for students in their final year of Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields seeking a career in Cloud Operations, DevOps Engineering, and Enterprise IT.


Key Responsibilities

1. Onboarding & Documentation (First 30 Days)

  • Document onboarding experience, pipeline architecture, and deployment workflows.
  • Understand and map existing Jenkins and GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
  • Participate in team discussions, shadowing DevOps engineers.
  • Build proof-of-concept pipelines in test environments.

2. CI/CD Pipeline Consolidation (60–90 Days)

  • Analyze and optimize Jenkins pipelines.
  • Plan and execute pipeline migration to GitLab CI/CD.
  • Implement automated testing, build, and deployment processes.
  • Establish pipeline performance metrics, rollback procedures, and best practices.

3. Security Integration & Optimization (4–6 Months)

  • Integrate security scanning tools: SAST, container scanning, dependency scanning, and secret detection.
  • Identify and secure sensitive configurations and credentials.
  • Collaborate with security teams to implement pipeline security policies.
  • Monitor and report vulnerabilities; optimize pipeline efficiency.
  • Develop dashboards for security metrics and compliance tracking.

4. Observability & Monitoring

  • Configure monitoring solutions with Datadog, Dynatrace, and centralized logging.
  • Build dashboards, alerts, and visualizations for system performance.
  • Support incident management, post-incident analysis, and root cause troubleshooting.

5. Additional Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to improve deployment processes.
  • Participate in code reviews and technical discussions.
  • Maintain runbooks, technical documentation, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Optimize monitoring, alerts, and system observability workflows.
  • Support ticketing and workflow systems like Jira.

Required Skills

  • Fundamental understanding of CI/CD concepts and pipelines.
  • Knowledge of version control systems (Git).
  • Linux and Windows system administration.
  • Docker and Kubernetes basics.
  • Basic knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS / Azure).
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability practices.
  • Scripting experience: Python, Bash.
  • Interest in security best practices and pipeline optimization.
