Job Description
Mastercard is looking for a highly motivated Site Reliability Engineer I (SRE) to join its Business Operations Engineering team in Pune. This opportunity is ideal for engineers passionate about Cloud Computing, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), DevOps, Linux Administration, Cloud Infrastructure, Automation, Observability, and Production Operations.
As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, availability, and performance of applications powering Mastercard's global payment ecosystem. Working alongside experienced engineers, you'll help build resilient cloud-native systems through automation, monitoring, incident response, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
Site Reliability Engineering
- Support highly available production platforms serving global payment applications.
- Improve platform reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
- Ensure production readiness of enterprise applications.
- Help build resilient, fault-tolerant cloud-native services.
Cloud Infrastructure Operations
- Support applications running across AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Assist in maintaining cloud infrastructure for high availability and security.
- Participate in infrastructure monitoring and operational support.
- Improve cloud platform performance and reliability.
DevOps & Automation
- Identify opportunities to automate operational processes.
- Develop scripts using Python, Go, Bash, or similar languages.
- Support CI/CD workflows and deployment automation.
- Contribute to Infrastructure Automation initiatives.
Monitoring & Observability
- Implement observability solutions for applications and infrastructure.
- Collect and analyze logs, metrics, and traces.
- Monitor production environments proactively.
- Improve operational visibility using monitoring dashboards and alerting systems.
Incident Management & Production Support
- Investigate production alerts and incidents.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure and application issues.
- Participate in incident response and root cause analysis.
- Support change management and production deployments.
- Contribute to blameless post-mortems and continuous operational improvements.
Linux & Systems Administration
- Support Linux and Unix operating systems.
- Troubleshoot server and infrastructure issues.
- Maintain system reliability and operational stability.
- Diagnose networking and operating system problems.
Capacity Planning & Performance Optimization
- Monitor system resource utilization.
- Assist with infrastructure capacity planning.
- Improve application performance and scalability.
- Optimize infrastructure efficiency through proactive monitoring.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely with software developers during the development lifecycle.
- Collaborate with Cloud Engineering, Product Development, Security, and Operations teams.
- Participate in technical discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across engineering teams.
